DAMDData that is correct, consistent, timely and coherent could be a key differentiator in these difficult economic times. Organizations recognize the critical importance of their data management capabilities to help achieve their goals for effectively managing information and acknowledge the quantum leap that needs to be made to improve them. Great efforts are made to develop high quality data sets and accompanying metadata, so that individual scientists and organizations can focus their valuable time on the analyses. It is said that most of CIOs look for an overall information management strategy, reinforcing the need to fully manage their organizations' data and leverage that data for strategic advantage. Information quality management is not an academic exercise—it is a combination of quality principles, processes and culture transformation required for business performance excellence in the emerging, realized Information Age. Capturing, representing and processing metadata promises to facilitate the management, consistent use and understanding of data and thus better support the exploitation of available information. Metadata contain information needed to understand and effectively use the data. It is receiving increasing attention from the scientific community. Ecologists, scientific societies, state and federal agencies are recognizing the importance of high quality, well-documented and securely archived data for addressing long-term and broad-scale questions. A key measure of the quality of the enterprise is the quality of its data within its data management system. The challenge is not simply whether there are data quality issues, nor how to fix them, but how to design these data quality issues out of the IT process from the very beginning. Not only will enforcing data quality make fixing errors faster, it also will make IT system development faster and cheaper to evolve and maintain. There is a significant need for research and development in this area which accentuates the need for the International Conference on Data Quality. Data Analysis & Metadata Management. Existing work has only partially covered some of the aspects and hence this conference invites researchers, academics, and practitioners to discuss the most important issues of information Quality, Data & Metadata Management. BIDWAnnual International Academic Conference on Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing (BIDW) is a catch phrase that was coined in the mid-1990s to describe taking data from its raw form and turning it into something usable that business decisions can be based on. It is an umbrella term that ties together other closely related data disciplines including data warehousing, data mining, statistical analysis, forecasting, and decision support. Analyst firm Gartner states that only five to ten percent of companies actually get into BI with a clear strategy, which means that many organizations unfortunately fail within this category. BI is a way to achieve the goal of gaining market share through a solid command of their vertical - which means a clear understanding of data. So when BI is implemented, every effort should be aimed towards this purpose - and the chances of success is skyrocketing. Buying the required BI and ensuring that a large IT team is not needed to implement and maintain, is a way to ensure that investment is smart. Leaders use information and adjust to new business circumstances – clearly an approach that is relevant to business intelligence, ensuring both short- term and long-term results. With a bias toward action, an important aspect of business leadership is – business results – a by-product of business decisions. The true power of BI is the ability to present actionable information to decision makers. Integrating the data and presenting it to the business in a useful manner is crucial and business value can be extracted from Data Warehouses. Data Warehouses are an important asset for organizations to maintain efficiency, profitability and competitive advantages. Organizations collect data through many sources - Online, Call Center, Sales Leads, Inventory Management. The data collected have degrees of value and business relevance. Data Warehouses are increasingly used by enterprises to increase efficiency and competitiveness. The goal of the International Academic Conference on Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing is to provide opportunities for academics, researchers, experienced professionals and business people to share their knowledge of Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing with the world. Keynote Address will be delivered by Prof. the Hon. Dr. Stephen Martin
